If a tire was as much as 83 feet (25 m) tall, could you imagine the size of the entire vehicle?
Well, imagining is pretty much the only thing you can do, as no such vehicle still exists. But the tire on the other hand, is 100% real.
Named the Uniroyal Giant Tire, it is located in Michigan and proudly takes the title of the biggest tire in the world.
With a whopping total weight of 11 tons, it stands as a symbol and a tribute to the rich automotive heritage the city of Detroit has built and earned throughout the years.
It was originally constructed as a Ferris wheel for the 1964/65 world fair. The company in charge for designing was non-other than Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, known for being behind the construction of Empire State Building. Total volume of this mega-tire is an amazing 120,576 cubic feet (3,414 cubic meters), while the exterior thread is as much as 6 inches (15 cm) deep, easily making the Uniroyal Giant Tire the world’s biggest tire.
