The biggest catfish ever caught was netted in 2005 by fishermen in Thailand with an astonishing size of 9 feet (2.75m).
With the weight of 646 pounds (293 kg), this giant is believed to be the biggest freshwater fish ever recorded, making his capture much more of an impressive feat.
Unfortunately, the catfish didn’t survive long in captivity, despite the efforts of local villagers to keep it alive.
This specie is listed as critically endangered by the World Conservation Union and is nearly extinct.
The mega-catfish was as big as a grizzly bear, which should give you the basic idea of how gigantic it really is.
